March rides and socials

Sonia led a ride from Station South in Levenshulme to Tatton Park. Its a pretty flat route with a very short but steep hill, though definitely doable. Sadly no there were no cruffins left at Station South after Zach had bigged them up all morning 😪.

Simons Bridge, Didsbury

Several Rainbow Riders have now signed up to tackle a couple of the routes in the Tour De Manc so Zach led a slightly longer training ride  to tackle the Old Brickworks climb in the Peak District. The snowy views on top of the hills were definitely worth the effort!

The Christie’s Manchester to Blackpool charity ride

A few Rainbow riders have signed up to take part in the 60 mile charity cycle from Manchester to Blackpool on Sunday 09 July 2023. We’ve currently picked a 9am start but we can flex this to suit the group.

The ride is suitable for Road/Hybrid/Mountain bikes and the event organisers put on transport for you and your bike back to Salford afterwards (at a small cost).

We have a team name registered already so why not sign up and register as part of the Rainbow Riders – LGBTQ+ cycling team, we can ride together if you want the extra support or power on and do your own ride.

Dutch touring holiday

Join us in August for our first touring holiday. We’re not planing a huge cycle fest, but there are a couple of longer days to ensure we get to see some great parts of The Netherlands.

Accommodation will be a group airbnb in Zandvoort/Haarlem, followed by 4 person en-suite rooms in Stayokay hostels in Amsterdam (2 nights), Utrecht (2 nights) and Rotterdam (1 night).

While we want to get to each location with time to relax and enjoy the sites, the journey and the sights along the way form a huge part of a cycle tour, so we wont be smashing it from place to place.

There are 12 spaces and they’re filling up fast so check out our Ronde Van Nederland page for more detail on the routes and accommodation and sign up for the tour on Spond

No Bike Needed socials

We’re skipping April’s First Friday Frolic

We had another good turn out at the First Friday Frolic in March, but as the next social would be the Friday of the long Bank Holiday weekend, we’ve decided to give it a miss in April.

The next Friday Frolic will be Friday, 5th May, We’ll meet from 7pm, upstairs at The Molly House, Richmond Street, Manchester.

Theatre trip

The fourth show in The Altrincham Garrick’s season of LGBTQ+ stories is Pronoun, A love story about transition, testosterone, and James Dean.

Rainbow Riders are attending on 26th April, and like last time this is an open invitation to anyone that might like to come along, just book yourself a ticket, and we’ll meet in the bar beforehand for a drink/chat.

Thanks and see you soon,
Bex, Kevin & Zach
